Shopping the best outdoors brands on a budget is tough. The gear is so technical, so highly designed that it costs a fortune. On top of that, most outdoor brands hate sale season. REI shuts down on Black Friday and promotes its Adventures programs instead. On Patagonia's Black Friday they tell you not to buy cheap gear and to go get old gear repaired instead. And Arc'teryx? Well, our favorite stop for highly technical jackets just ignores Black Friday all together—and we love that for them.

We support the outdoors industry's treatment of Black Friday. Unlike other brands who claim they "don't do Black Friday sales," for us shopping editors, it's refreshing. It's a small stand against rampant consumerism. Buy less, buy better. Invest in the best products out there and take good care of them. We're fully on board with that.
