2001: A Space Odyssey

Pop on this Stanley Kubrick classic about space, evolution, and trippy, dimensional rifts. Trust me, you and your buddies will be smacked silent, in absolute awe, for the next three hours. Brains: activated.

Zardoz

This wacky film about the future of Earth in the year 2293 is hard to even explain sober, so being fully zonked while watching Zardoz may actually help in understanding just what in the hell is going on. The gist: a giant, floating stone statute of a head rules over the planet and convinces us that war is good and procreation is bad. Of course, everything is not as simple as it seems.

The Wizard of Oz

Something about "oz" being in the title just makes The Wizard of Oz a good film to watch while you're high. Stoners have believed that this classic film syncs up perfectly with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I suggest you be the judge.

What We Do in the Shadows

What We Do in the Shadows is absurd. A mockumentary about vampires just trying to live in the real world is thwarted when a human wants in on the fun. And once you finish this one up, check out FX OnDemand for the 2019 show inspired by the film.
The World's Most Extraordinary Homes

Stick with us. Netflix’s The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes is somehow totally calming and exciting, both in the most British way. The combo of charming hosts and insane architecture will keep your attention.

This is the End

In a list of new classics, This is the End is near the top—and if anything, it’s a (hilarious) cautionary tale that if the world is actually ending, put down the bong.
Inside Out

Really, any Pixar film is a good bet, but if you’re looking for one that will get you in your feelings without ruining you, Inside Out walks the line perfectly.
Avatar

We’ve got colors. We’ve got action. We’ve got a whole new universe. We’ve got an underlying message about not fucking up the environment. Avatar is a trip that deserves a toke.

Dazed and Confused

And, of course, at the top of the heap? Alright, alright, alright. Dazed and Confused. It’s the all-time stoner classic, and if you can’t rely on it, then you can’t rely on anything.
The OA

Want to tackle a whole new series that is out to bend your mind a bit? Try The O.A. After vanishing, a woman returns and recruits five others to help her on a mission.
Reefer Madness

Want to get real meta. Reefer Madness is a propaganda film from the 30s that warns of the dangers of smoking the devil's grass. In actuality, the film is kind of hilarious. And best of all, it's free on YouTube.

Star Trek: Discovery

Listen, there's no better time to get reacquainted with the new Star Trek series than after a hit or two. You can stream it on CBS All Access or check it out elsewhere, but with only a couple seasons under its belt, it's worth the peep.
Pineapple Express

Pineapple Express is quintessential Rogen. A stoner film through and through, Pineapple Express follows a guy and his dealer escaping from a hitman, and it's bananas the whole way through. When Seth Rogen comes to mind, Pineapple Express is likely not far behind.
Friday

It's very likely that Friday is the greatest stoner movie ever. This isn't up for debate. It gave us "Bye Felicia" and the best cinematic performance from Ice Cube ever. End of story.
