The fifth Indiana Jones film was always supposed to chronicle Indy's final adventure. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is a celebration of one of Harrison Ford's most popular roles—and a grand farewell to our favorite archeologist. More Indy? Who could say no?! After a visit from his old buddy's daughter (Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Indy is roped into another Nazi-punching adventure to save the world—and learn about another one of the universe's greatest mysteries.
With the film focusing on the search for Achimedes dial—a device with the power to travel through time—one may think that Indiana Jones would be entering the complicated world of multiverses. After all, another summer blockbuster, The Flash, just went into multiverse overdrive because of its bizarre time-travel plot. Thankfully, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is a fitting end for the character—and one that avoids the need to shoehorn Marvel-level shenanigans into the film.
What we will tell you, however, is that there's no need to sit through the credits for a certain tip of the hat—one that points to another Indy film. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny does not have a post-credits scene. Good for them! When Disney said that this film is Indy's final outing, they really meant it. If the House of Mouse ever chooses to recast a young Indiana Jones for a new round of adventures, they can do that on their own time. Let's all just give the 80-year-old Ford a break before he has to saddle up again in 1923. In the meantime, the last Indiana Jones picture premieres in theaters tonight, June 29.
