When we last caught up with the gang in Gen V, everything had gone to shit. Our young heroes from The Boys spinoff uncovered a deep conspiracy within their special school, and were shocked that dangerous students were imprisoned against their will in some kind of underground prison called "The Woods." Oh, and our main character, Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), blew a guy's dick off.

Kicking off Episode Five, we have even bigger problems. Everyone wakes up the night after a party that they have no memory of attending—and the escaped prisoner, Sam, reveals that the school most likely erased their memories. There's also another theory: The recently dick-less Rufus may have used his telekinetic powers to get revenge on Marie and her friends for permanently maiming him.

Cate, why?!

Poking around the party, another NSFW moment results in a woman with a blowhole on her back engaging in some more, shall we say, sexually inventive material. But our heroes don't have to search long. A scientist at The Woods reveals that they're doing MkUltra experiments on the students that makes them forget periods of time. He's even working on a virus that may be able to control their movements.

Meanwhile, Emma (Lizzie Broadway) is soaking in the fame after a viral video—where she's giant, naked, and chugging beer—gains popularity. As Steven Universe once sang, "All I wanna do is see you turn into a giant woman." But Sam (Asa Germann), our escaped psychopath, still sees her as a puppet. He sees everyone as a puppet—clearly a metaphor about how they're all "puppets" for the government—but it also helps lower the gore factor when he rips a Muppet's head off, versus an actual flesh-and-blood security guard.

After feeling a weird itch on her neck, Marie uses her blood powers to remove a tracker placed in her skin. Horrified, she runs to Cate (Maddie Phillips) to see if her friends have one as well. Cate then user her mind control powers to make Marie black out, resulting in a major twist for our superhero friends moving forward. Cate is the traitor. Honestly, if her powers were mind control, they should have at least suspected it. But she's been working with the school this entire time—even with Golden Boy before the series even began. The twist also exonerates Rufus, meaning that he never used his telekinetic abilities to assault anyone.

When our heroes finally find out the mole's identity, they're just as shocked as well are. "I only wanted to help and protect you," Cate says. "I just wanted to make things better." She restores their memories and comes clean, but the group is shaken. "You're a fucking monster," Andre (Chance Perdomo) tells her before storming out. Yup! Almost everyone in The Boys universe is. Now that we're entering the second half of the spinoff series, there's nothing left to hope for other than sweet, sweet revenge.
