Times are hard and pickings are slim for gamers this summer. This console generation has not been kind to thrifty gamers, but even in this desolate economy, Prime Day always guarantees one good deal or two.

This year, it’s a gift for Xbox gamers, which we desperately need. For its annual summer blowout, Amazon is offering a renewed Xbox Series X console for $369.99. That’s an 18 percent discount for a console that’s typically in the $450 range, even for a pre-owned model.

Listen, I know this isn’t the most outrageous discount. But it is a good deal. This isn’t just a lowly cry for you to come join me on my platform of choice, either. All things considered, $370 for a console capable of running Hellblade 2, Alan Wake 2, and the best of Xbox Game Pass is a pretty nice offer. Let me put it another way: You’d be paying a lot more to make an equally powerful PC out of refurbished parts. A lot more.

Xbox Series X Console Refurbished

While there are certain games you can’t get without a PS5, they are few and far between. I love my Series X for its Quick Resume function (handy for indecisive gamers like me) and access to my large back catalog of titles. When Amazon’s Fallout TV show was popping off, I put my Xbox 360 copy of Fallout: New Vegas that I bought in 2010 into my Series X, and it played the game. It even made it better, improving the frame rate to a solid 60 fps—not the case with the original Xbox 360 version. New games run great and old games run, period—for our money, this makes it possibly better than the competitor.
