At long last, The Many Saints of Newark is here. The long-awaited Sopranos prequel film premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on October 1, and sets out to provide some Sopranos family history, as well as explain what happened back in the ‘60s when Tony was a teenager to inform the later events of David Chase’s beloved HBO series.

James Gandolfini took home many awards over the years for his all-time great performance as Tony Soprano. Tragically, he passed away in 2013 after a heart attack when he was only 51 years old. In The Many Saints of Newark, his son Michael takes on the role of young Tony.
Edie Falco

Edie Falco, who portrayed Carmela Soprano, spent several years after the show ended playing the titular Nurse Jackie Peyton on the Showtime series Nurse Jackie. She’s currently playing Hillary Clinton alongside Beanie Feldstein and Sarah Paulson in Ryan Murphy’s Impeachment: American Crime Story. Falco filmed scenes for The Many Saints of Newark that were later cut from the final product, but she still attended the Tribeca Film Festival premiere along with the rest of the cast.
Tony Sirico

Tony Sirico had been arrested almost thirty times himself before he starred as Paulie Walnuts, a member of Tony’s core crew, in The Sopranos. Since, he’s acted in several movies including two Woody Allen films, in TV series Lilyhammer along with his former Sopranos castmate Steven Van Zandt, and voice acted in Family Guy and American Dad. He’s 79 years old and still working today.
Steven Van Zandt
Not only did Steven Van Zandt play Silvio Dante in The Sopranos—he’s also the former guitarist and mandolin player for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. He’s still a working actor today, starring in TV series Lilyhammer from 2012-2014 and most recently in Scorsese's The Irishman.
Michael Imperioli
You’ll hear the unmistakable voice of Michael Imperioli’s Christopher Moltisanti in The Many Saints of Newark, though Christopher is only a baby at the time the film takes place. Today, the Goodfellas and Sopranos actor is 55 years old, and also the host of the podcast Talking Sopranos alongside his old castmate Steve Schirripa.
Lorraine Bracco
Lorraine Bracco spent years portraying Tony Soprano’s troubled therapist Dr. Jennifer Melfi, and today, Bracco is still acting. In the years since The Sopranos ended, she’s appeared on Blue Bloods, Rizzoli & Isles, British comedy series Jerk, and many more. She also starred in her own HGTV show in 2020 called My Big Italian Adventure in which she bought an old house in Italy for one euro and renovated it into a vacation home.
Dominic Chianese
The Godfather Part II actor who portrayed Tony’s uncle Junior is 90 years old today, and still acting. In the years since The Sopranos wrapped, Chianese has appeared in The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire, and The Village.
Steve Schirripa
Steve Schirripa, who played Bobby Baccalieri in David Chase’s HBO series, is a working actor and podcast host today, best known for his roles in Blue Bloods and The Secret Life of the American Teenger since The Sopranos wrapped.
Robert Iler

Robert Iler, who played Anthony Junior in The Sopranos, is 36 years old today. He stopped acting after his eight-year run on The Sopranos and went on to pursue a professional poker career in Vegas for a while. He rarely does interviews, but he did appear on Schirripa and Imperioli’s podcast in 2020, and currently hosts own podcast with his TV sister Jamie-Lynn Sigler called Pajama Pants. He’s never watched The Sopranos in full himself, as he said it would be “torture” to watch the late James Gandolfini now, who was like a father figure to him growing up.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler
Jamie-Lynn Sigler portrayed Tony and Carmela’s daughter Meadow Soprano in the HBO series, and is still a working actor today. She’s appeared in countless shows and movies including Entourage, Ugly Betty, and Guys with Kids since The Sopranos ended, and currently co-hosts the weekly podcast Pajama Pants with Robert Iler, as well as a parenting podcast called Mama Said.
Drea de Matteo
Drea de Matteo played Adriana La Cerva, Christopher Moltisanti’s girlfriend and fiancé in The Sopranos. Since, she's appeared in Desperate Housewives, Sons of Anarchy, and opposite Matt LeBlanc in Friends spinoff Joey, as well as created her own Sopranos-themed podcast called Gangster Goddess Broadcast that ended in November 2020.
